Unaware and Unprotected: Parents' don't know about Harmful Chemicals in Personal Care Products

Many parents in India are unaware of the potential harm caused by chemicals like parabens, phthalates, and musk ambrette in personal care products. A research conducted by Satrangi Gurukul found that:

• 70% of parents were unaware of the presence of parabens in personal care products

• 80% of parents did not know about the potential health risks associated with phthalates

• 90% of parents had never heard of musk ambrette or its potential health effects

This lack of awareness is concerning, as parents are unknowingly exposing their children to these chemicals, which can have long-term consequences on their health and well-being.

We also found that:

• 60% of parents relied on product labels and advertising claims to make decisions about personal care products

• 40% of parents trusted recommendations from friends and family members

• Only 10% of parents consulted professionals or conducted their own research before making purchasing decisions

This highlights the need for increased awareness and education among parents about the potential risks associated with certain chemicals in personal care products. By being informed and making conscious choices, parents can protect their children's health and promote a safer and healthier environment.
