NEP to supercharge UP Board Learning

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is bringing changes to the curriculum for UP Board students in classes 9 and 10.

Three-Language Formula:

  • Every student will be required to study at least three languages.

  • Hindi will be compulsory for all.

  • Students can choose two additional languages from a variety of options including Sanskrit, English, Urdu, and many more regional languages.

More Subjects:

  • The number of subjects for exams will increase from six to ten in class 9.

  • Mathematics, Science, and Social Science will be compulsory for all.

Elective Subjects:

  • Students will have more flexibility in choosing subjects based on their interests.

  • Options include Home Science, Computer Applications, Agriculture, Physical Education, and various art subjects like Painting or Music.

Other Proposals:

  • A new grading system with grades ranging from A1 (highest) to E.

  • Increased focus on internal assessments and project-based learning.

  • Potential changes to question paper formats to encourage holistic learning.

Implementation Timeline:

  • These changes are proposed to be implemented in a phased manner.

  • The three-language formula is expected to start in class 9 from the academic session 2025-26.

These are proposals, and the Uttar Pradesh Board is currently seeking feedback from stakeholders before finalizing the implementation plan.
